DENVER ( KDVR ) — Denver has been unexpectedly hot this season, but even with the warm weather, the Mile High City won’t miss out on the fall temperatures. But, you might have to wait awhile.
Usually, Denver starts to feel like fall around the end of September and into the start of October, according to Pinpoint Weather Meteorologist Travis Michels . During this time, temperatures tend to dip into the 60s and 70s and stay around that before cooling down for the winter.
However, this fall season started unusually warm.
This year was the hottest September in history , with an average temperature of 70 degrees — about 5 degrees warmer than the typical September in Denver. Not only was the average temperature warmer than usual, but the city also saw multiple 90-degree days throughout the month, and as of October, it isn’t cooling down just yet.
Tuesday morning had the coldest temperature in over 100 days
On Wednesday, temperatures reached a high of 89 degrees , overtaking a heat record that held for almost two decades.
