Nebraska grain elevator cited for safety and health violations, could face more than $500,000 in fines

HEMINGFORD, Neb. – Federal investigators found life-threatening hazards at a Nebraska grain cooperative leading to more than $500,000 in proposed penalties. Workers faced risks of fire and explosions due to Legacy Cooperative’s Hemingford grain elevator allowing a buildup of combustible dust and failing to maintain effective dust collection systems, according to the U.S. Department of Labor.
