Got questions about Amendment 2? Hear from both sides and get answers at upcoming forum

This story was updated to replace an Amendment 2 image from a previous election cycle.

On Nov. 5, Kentucky voters will decide whether they want state lawmakers to change the constitution to allow public tax dollars to go to non-public schools.

It’s a crucial issue that has sparked controversy across Kentucky. To help people better understand both sides of the issue and make a more informed decision at the ballot box, the Courier Journal is holding a forum on Amendment 2 at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 22, at the Main Branch Library, 301 York St.

Forum participants include Maddie Shepherd, president of the Jefferson County Teachers Association; Jim Waters, president and CEO of the Bluegrass Institute for Public Policy Solutions; and William Hoyt, chair of public finance at the University of Kentucky’s Martin School of Public Policy and Administration.

Courier Journal politics reporter Hannah Pinski will moderate the forum. Audience members will be able to submit questions for the panelists before and during the forum.
