15 Year Prison Sentence Handed to Jackson Man as Armed Career Criminal

A federal prison sentence of 188 months, or fifteen years, has been assigned to a man from Jackson for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

According to court documents, Bernard Caston and Frederick Harper, both residents of Jackson, stole four firearms on February 24th, 2018. While Caston and Harper were en route to another place in Jackson, where they intended to sell the guns they had stolen, the two were stopped by a Jackson Police Department officer.

Caston, age fifty four, had already received a number of felony convictions. One of these convictions included a conviction for felony armed bank robbery. This conviction is what led to the application of the Armed Career Criminal Act.

The investigation was opened by the Jackson Police Department as well as the ATF.
