Topher Grace, an actor known for appearing in such TV series as “That ’70s Show” and for playing the villain Venom in “Spider-Man 3,” has joined the cast of “The Waterfront,” according to the show’s Internet Movie Database page .
The series, which will air on Netflix when completed, started shooting in the Wilmington area and Southport last month . It’s the latest show from the writer Kevin Williamson, known for his work on other Wilmington-shot fare, including “Dawson’s Creek,” the fifth “Scream” movie and the Southport-shot “I Know What You Did Last Summer.”
Grace will play the role of Grady in “The Waterfront,” which is described on IMDb as being about the “damaged” Buckley family as “their storied North Carolina fishing empire decays (and they) grapple to revive their imperiled maritime heritage.”
Other cast members announced for “The Waterfront” so far include Holt McCallany, who will play the leading role of Harlan Buckley. McCallany starred in the Netflix series “Mindhunter” about an FBI agent hunting for a serial killer. He also plays pro wrestler Fritz Von Erich in A24 movie “The Iron Claw.”
