Wildfire burning on Fort Carson

(FORT CARSON, Colo.) — Smoke may be visible to the Colorado Springs community due to a wildfire burning on Fort Carson.

According to a Fort Carson official, the fire began at approximately 1:40 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 3 when Fort Carson Fire responded to calls of a wildfire at Range 143, located south of the main post.

“Four Fort Carson Fire units have responded to the fire with four mutual-aid units from Security, Monument, and Colorado Springs fire departments as well as the El Paso County Wildland Fire Team are assisting,” the Fort Carson official told FOX21 News.

Currently, the fire stands at 40 acres and is 0% contained.
