Friday afternoon will be a bit warm.

GULF: The National Hurricane Center has increased formation chances for a tropical disturbance near the Yucatan. For the past 48 hours, they had been decreasing chances until timing changes and deterministic model trends emerged this evening. One major model is now trying to organize something in the Gulf by next week. The good news for us is a frontal boundary will push south and protect the western Gulf Coast. However, this front could aid in some organization for this system and push it east into Florida. Regardless of organization, this will likely bring significant rainfall totals to the eastern Gulf Coast.

OUR PATTERN: The high-pressure ridge at mid to upper levels will dominate the region next week. However, recent model hints suggest it may weaken the weekend after next, potentially bringing some precipitation for the Red River Rivalry weekend. We’re still very far out, so we’ll need to wait for more model runs to determine trends and consistency. Just something to monitor at this point.
