Bucs Block FG, Cling to Fourth-Quarter Lead in Atlanta

Despite allowing Kirk Cousins almost 400 passing yards and without a touchdown in the second half, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are hanging on with a fourth-quarter lead in their NFC South showdown with the Atlanta Falcons.

The Bucs were great early, but have had some luck lately.

With Tampa Bay leading, 30-27, early in the fourth quarter, the Falcons were driving. But receiver Darnell Mooney, who already has eight catches and two touchdowns, dropped a wide-open pass at the Bucs’ 15-yard line on third down.

Atlanta elected to try a tying field goal, but Tavierre Thomas broke through the right end and blocked Younghoe Koo’s attempt .

Cousins has 385 yards passing and the Bucs haven’t found the end zone since Sterling Shephard’s touchdown pass before halftime.

The Bucs lead by three, but just turned the ball over in Atlanta territory on a Bucky Irving fumble to give Atlanta new hope.
