Week 5’s edition of “Thursday Night Football” brought us an NFC South battle between Baker Mayfield and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Kirk Cousins and the Atlanta Falcons.
Through the first four weeks of the new season, the Bucs sit atop the division standings with a 3-1 record, but the Falcons, under first-year head coach Raheem Morris, are right behind them at 2-2.
Prior to the game, Mayfield underwent an unusual pregame routine that saw him getting hyped up for the game by watching highlights of boxing legend Mike Tyson.
When Amazon Prime showed a video of Mayfield in the locker room, commentator Kirk Herbstreit, a former Ohio State quarterback well-known for his work on ESPN’s “College GameDay,” was amazed by his pregame actions.
“Name a quarterback in the history of the NFL that to get his mind right is watching Mike Tyson,” Herbstreit said. “I can understand a linebacker, pass rusher, or a safety, but here’s a quarterback. That tells you how he plays the game. He’s watching Mike Tyson pregame.”
