Teen arrested in Semmes fentanyl overdose death of Jayce Ward

SEMMES, Ala. ( WKRG ) — A 19-year-old has been arrested in connection with the fentanyl overdose death of a Semmes teenager in August.

Brayden Robert Hollie of Semmes was arrested and charged with manslaughter in the death of 18-year-old Jayce Ward .

Ward was found dead on Aug. 6 at a home on Vickers Road in Semmes. His cause of death was a fentanyl overdose, according to the Semmes Police Department.

Ward is the third Semmes teenager whose death has been attributed to fentanyl in the past two years.

15-year-old Adrianna Taylor died from an overdose in September 2022 and a 17-year-old boy was found dead in a home on Howells Ferry Road on Sept. 9.

Jackson Lewis was arrested in connection with Taylor’s death and was found guilty of criminally negligent homicide.

18-year-old Kaleb Daniel Harden was arrested in the case of the 17-year-old’s death and is charged with manslaughter, possession of a controlled substance, and use/possession of drug paraphernalia.
