Pensacola woman leads effort to send hurricane relief supplies to Asheville, NC

PENSACOLA, Fla. ( WKRG ) — After seeing the devastation Hurricane Helene caused in Asheville North Carolina, Vicki Campbell is now leading the charge to send help.

Pallets filled with cases of water, diapers, canned goods and so much more are ready to be shipped off to victims of Hurricane Helene.

It is a cause that is personal for Vicki Campbell. Her entire family is from Asheville, with dozens of family members currently living there.

“All of the rivers and creeks overflowed. All of their infrastructure is pretty much gone. They have no roads they have no bridges, it’s like a third world country up there right now,” Campbell said.

Wanting to make an impact, Campbell began gathering supplies and making calls to area churches. That’s when Marcus Pointe Baptist Church stepped up as a host site.

“It’s great to see other people coming in and other churches coming together. We’re working with Brownsville Assembly, we’re working with Liberty Church and there have been some great churches that have come in and dropped off cases and pallets of water,” Craig Hindsman, pastor at Marcus Pointe Baptist Church said.
