Ex-Alameda County deputy convicted of Dublin double murder in love triangle

( KRON ) — A former Alameda County Sheriff’s deputy was convicted of double murder on Thursday, Alameda County District Attorney Pamela Price announced.

Devin Williams, 26, was found guilty of first-degree murder for the 2022 shooting deaths of Maria Tran, 42, and Benison Tran, 57. Williams was in a romantic relationship with Maria Tran while she was married to Benison Tran, according to evidence presented to Price.

“We recognize this horrific tragedy leaves a son without his parents and a community forever traumatized by this unacceptable and vicious home invasion attack on an unarmed and unsuspecting couple,” Price said.

Williams left work, went to the couple’s home on Colebrook Lane in Dublin and shot them both on Sept. 7, 2022, Price’s office said.

Maria Tran met Williams at John George Psychiatric Hospital in San Leandro where she worked as a nurse, a wrongful death lawsuit said . They began a romantic relationship, which she later tried to end.
