According to a Denton Police Department Facebook post, and a Wise County Sherriff Office Facebook post , Deputy Rex Allen Love succumbed to the injuries that he obtained while responding to a vehicle crash on County Road 4421, East of U.S. 287. in Wise County,
He previously worked for law enforcement in both Denton and Wise Counties.
While responding Deputy Love collided with a concrete barrier in a construction zone. Deputy Love was non-responsive when additional deputies reached his WCSO cruiser. He was pulled from the vehicle, and life-saving measures were utilized.
Wise County EMS was dispatched to the scene. The medics performed CPR as they transported the patient to Medical City Decatur.
After he was transported to Medical City Decatur Hospital, later that night of October 2, 2024, he died.
