One of New Jersey’s Most Wanted, accused of Brick attempted murder in 2010, captured

A man accused of shooting a victim in the face in Brick 14 years ago who landed on New Jersey’s Most Wanted list was captured Wednesday by the New Jersey State Police and the U.S. Marshals Service Regional Fugitive Task Force.

Marciano Sanchez, 40, whose last known address was Queens, New York, was charged with attempted murder and weapons offenses in Brick in December 2010, Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer and state police Superintendent Patrick Callahan said in a statement. A warrant for Sanchez’s arrest was issued at the time, and his name was entered in the National Crime Information Center database.

Sanchez is currently being held at Riker’s Island Correctional Facility in New York pending extradiction to Ocean County, Billhimer and Callahan said.

On Nov. 29, 2010, Brick police were called to the Community First Aid Building on Mantoloking Road where officers found a male victim who had been shot in the face. He was taken to Jersey Shore University Medical Center where he was treated and eventualy released.
