Voter registration deadline in RI is Oct. 6

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — Rhode Islanders have a few more days to register to vote in the upcoming Nov. 5 general election.

Anyone who wants to vote must register online or visit their local board of canvassers’ office by Sunday, Oct. 6.

The last day to request a mail ballot is also approaching. Applications can be submitted online or in person by Tuesday, Oct. 15.

Early voting begins the following day, Oct. 16.

How to become a poll worker

The R.I. Board of Elections is also recruiting Rhode Islanders to become paid poll workers for Election Day.

Poll workers can earn between $125 and $250 , depending on their location.

Responsibilities include setting up polling places, verifying registrations and issuing ballots, as well as helping people understand the voting process and how to use the equipment.

Training sessions will be held between now and Nov. 1.

“This is a great opportunity to participate in the democratic process, help your community, and get paid for working the polls on Election Day,” R.I. Board of Elections Executive Director Miguel Nunez said.
