Body found in connection with search for missing Madison woman

MADISON, Wis. — A body was discovered Thursday in connection with the search of a missing Madison woman.

According to Madison Police Department Chief Shon Barnes, crews recovered a body from a pond near Monroe St. and Lewis Ct., on the property of the University of Wisconsin-Madison Arboretum Thursday afternoon.

Barnes said a nearby resident called in a tip about a body in the water, potentially matching the description of Brooke L. Strattan. According to Barnes, a drone was used to help identify the body in the pond. Crews later recovered the body, and Barnes said Thursday evening that the Dane County Medical Examiner will make a final determination as to the identity of the person.

A man last seen with Strattan was in custody Thursday in the Dane County Jail on unrelated charges. Barnes said detectives will question the man in connection with the case. The man has not been charged in the disappearance of Strattan.

Chief Barnes asked nearby residents with doorbell or other cameras to review footage and to contact Madison Police, if anything out of the ordinary was witnessed.
