Mother-son duo grows food truck community in Loves Park

LOVES PARK, Ill. (WTVO) — Carlos Rosario and his mother have been running Carlito’s Munchie Station and creating a bit of a food truck community over the last seven months that continues to grow.

“My biggest thing and I will say it till the day I die is the sun shines for us all,” said Rosario. “At the end of the day, you know, we like the local scene. We like the local mom-and-pop shops.”

“It’s always usually a vibe. It’s pretty fun out here. We get vendor set up and everything with crafts and baked goods and all kinds of stuff,” said Sizzilin’ Suzies’ owner Susie Hendron. “We’ve got a t-shirt vendor, they have the coolest t-shirts and are usually out here every weekend.”

There are plenty of trucks and local shops to choose from. Different types of food is offered as well as drinks, jewelry and clothes.

“You know, I’ve worked here, I’ve had two restaurants here,” said Rosario. “It’s been so successful. The City of Loves Park, they’ve always been there to have my back on ventures that I wanted.”
