Health insurance changes due to rising costs not welcome by some LPSS teachers

The Lafayette Parish School System is faced with nearly an $8 million deficit because of health insurance benefits for current and retired teachers, along with other current employees. The school board said the cost they pay for coverage is likely to go up. Roughly 10,000 people receive health insurance benefits from LPSS and the budget deficit to provide them with coverage is only expected to grow.
