It appears the Irvington neighborhood has lost a longtime Dairy Queen.
Owner David Atherton announced that he’s exiting the 6245 E. Washington Dairy Queen Chill & Grill.
“After 25 years in business it is time to call it a career,” he posted to the business’s Facebook page on Oct. 2. “Chrisie and I would like to thank all of our loyal customers over the years and to all of our past and present employees. I am going to enjoy retirement.”

The shop was one of the Dairy Queen chain locations that serve burgers and other grilled foods, as well as frozen treats.
There’s no word on whether Atherton is selling the business, but the shop is already listed on the chain’s website as being temporarily closed.
It’s located in the half-empty Irvington Plaza , which is being redeveloped.
