A local resident was recently recognized by Ocala police as a “citizen hero” after his actions helped an officer detain an uncooperative suspect. According to the Ocala Police Department, Allen “Greg” Smith was driving on W Silver Springs boulevard on Tuesday, August 6, when he saw an officer attempting to arrest a “non-compliant” male suspect in a vacant lot near the roadway.
