NYC Deputy Mayor and Eric Adams’ key ally Sheena Wright to resign amid City Hall turmoil

First Deputy Mayor Sheena Wright is expected to resign as early as Friday, following recent federal raids on her home and amid a wave of high-level departures from Mayor Eric Adams’ troubled administration , according to the New York Post .

This comes after federal agents raided the home she shares with her husband , former Schools Chancellor David Banks. Banks submitted his resignation shortly after. Wright was reportedly unhappy with how Banks was pushed out of the job.

The potential replacements for Wright include Anthony Shorris, who previously served as first deputy mayor; Deputy Mayor Maria Torres-Springer, who leads Adams’ housing efforts; and Camille Joseph Varlack, the mayor’s chief of staff, the Post reported.

Wright’s replacement is set to begin next week, according to the Post. Hers the latest high profile resignation in Eric Adam’s administration as the mayor himself faces serious charges in the corruption case against him. One week ago Adams was indicted on charges of accepting bribes and illegal campaign contributions from foreign sources.
