Sturgill Simpson was due to swing through Asheville, North Carolina on October 21st for a performance at ExploreAsheville.com Arena as part of his ongoing Why Not? Tour. After Hurricane Helene and the catastrophic flooding it caused wreaked havoc on Asheville and its surrounding areas last week, his show-along with the rest of the upcoming events at the venue-has been canceled as relief efforts continue. But rather than taking the day off ahead of his previously scheduled October 22nd show at Cary, NC’s Koka Booth Amphitheatre, Sturgill Simpson will now head to Cary a day early to mount a last-minute benefit show for the North Carolina Disaster Relief Fund, which is assisting in Hurricane Helene recovery efforts.
