Fire danger high as strong winds are in the forecast

State officials are warning of dangerous conditions that could spark wildfires, as extremely dry conditions continue for most of the state. The National Weather Service says warm, dry, and breezy air today will result in elevated to near-critical fire risk this afternoon. Southerly winds will be gusting around 25-30 mph for areas west of the James River, with humidity falling to less than 25% in many areas. Combined dry conditions with breezy to strong winds will result in elevated fire danger for today, and a Fire Weather Watch for Saturday.
