New flare-up in Line Fire causes school cancelation

Local schools in Yucaipa and mountain communities closed again Monday and Tuesday, due to unhealthy air quality from the Line Fire. The Line Fire, which started on Sept. 4, flared up on Sunday, Sept. 29. The smoke plumes could be seen in Yucaipa, Mentone and Redlands and throughout the area. The air quality reached the Unhealthy Air Quality Index (AQI) category in Angelus Oaks on Monday night and Tuesday afternoon and was in the Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups to Unhealthy categories at times in Fontana and San Bernardino on Tuesday morning due to smoke from the Line Fire. Ozone also reached the Very Unhealthy AQI category in parts of the South Coast Air Basin on Monday.
