PHOTOS: Two hot air balloons greet students before the bell at Barcelona Elementary

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – Some Albuquerque elementary students and their families woke up early on Friday to watch hot air balloons inflate at their schools as part of the Albuquerque Aloft program.

Kids, parents, and teachers got an opportunity to see how the balloons are set up, inflated, and taken down, and also talk to the crew and pilots. “I love it. Every time kids are excited to be at school, it’s a great thing,” said Nancy Rabelo, interim principal of Barcelona Elementary School.

This year, the students and families at Barcelona Elementary School got to see the balloons “Entrapment,” piloted by Eric Greenwood, and “Sky Star,” piloted by Jos Seghers, up close.
