Celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay eats gumbo, fried chicken at family-owned New Orleans restaurant

BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — Gordon Ramsay, a British celebrity chef, recently visited a family-owned soul food restaurant in New Orleans.

In a Thursday, Oct. 3 social media post , Lil’ Dizzy’s Cafe said Ramsay stopped by and had “some gumbo and fried chicken and he enjoyed it.”

Lil’ Dizzy’s offers lunch and daily specials. The lunch menu includes shrimp or hot sausage po-boys, mac and cheese, fried shrimp salad, dirty rice, southern greens, potato salad, fried chicken, gumbo, candied yams and bread pudding.

The post said Ramsay got a signed Baquet family cookbook and some gumbo mix.

“It was an amazing experience,” said Arkesha Baquet.

Lil’ Dizzy’s opened in 2005 and is currently owned by Wayne Baquet Sr. and his wife Arkesha. Wayne’s father Eddie is the namesake behind the 7th Ward restaurant, Eddie’s.

Lil’ Dizzy’s is located at 1500 Esplanade Ave.
