23-year-old charged in murder of woman on US-35

DAYTON, Ohio ( WDTN ) — A suspect has been officially charged in the shooting death of an innocent mother on US-35 last month.

Prosecuting Attorney Mat Heck Jr. announced on Friday the official indictment of Noah Corbitt, 23 of Dayton. Corbitt has been charged for the murder of 26-year-old Jermea Lyle , while she was in the backseat of a vehicle with her four-year-old daughter.

DPD: Mother killed in backseat of car was innocent bystander in ‘ongoing dispute’

On Saturday, Sept. 21, Dayton police were dispatched to Miami Valley Hospital to investigate after a shooting victim arrived at the hospital. The victim, identified as Lyle, died from the shooting.

Investigation revealed the defendant had been arguing with another individual over money. That individual got a ride from a friend. The defendant followed their vehicle and fired at least one shot toward the vehicle in the area of I-75 and US-35.

Jermea Lyle was a passenger in the backseat behind the driver, alongside her four-year-old daughter. The bullet went through the trunk of the car and fatally shot Lyle.
