Increased trooper presence expected on I-70 this weekend

DAYTON, Ohio ( WDTN ) — Drivers on I-70 can expect to see more troopers patrolling the interstate this weekend.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol will be patrolling I-70 from Friday, Oct. 4 at midnight to Sunday, Oct. 6 at 11:59 p.m., as part of the 6-State Trooper Project. The initiative focuses on speed, safety belt and OVI enforcement.

As part of the 6-State Trooper Project, Indiana and Pennsylvania State Police will also patrol I-70 throughout the weekend.

The enforcement initiative aims to reduce unsafe driving along the I-70 corridor.

During the 6-State initiative last year at this time, Ohio troopers issued 388 citations for speed, 31 safety belt violations and made five OVI arrests.
