Nevada Red Cross issues “Giving Challenge” to raise money for hurricane relief

Las Vegas, NV (KXNT) – The American Red Cross of Nevada has launched its first-ever “Giving Challenge,” calling on Nevadans, business leaders, foundations and others to contribute $1 million in a week to aid relief efforts in Southeastern states ravaged by Hurricane Helene.

Over 200 deaths have been attributed to the storm, which has left hundreds of thousands of residents in need of power and water.

Volunteers from the Red Cross of Nevada are in Florida, Georgia and North Carolina, joining over 1,300 other trained Red Cross disaster relief volunteers to provide crucial support where it’s needed most.

The U.S. has already experienced 20 billion-dollar disasters in 2024, including a record-breaking number of tornadoes, catastrophic flooding, devastating wildfires and extreme heat across the country.

Those who want to help can make a gift to American Red Cross Disaster can visit redcross.org/donate , call 1-800-RED CROSS, or text HELENE to 90999 to donate.
