6 Grand Strand brewing companies team up to help ‘Beer City, USA’ after Helene

HORRY COUNTY, S.C. (WBTW) — Six brewing companies along the Grand Strand are working to collect supplies for people in North Carolina impacted by Helene.

Grand Strand Brewing Company, Tidal Creek Brewhouse, New South Brewing, Crooked Hammock, Southern Crown, and Southern Hops are helping the city of Asheville, which is known as “Beer City, USA,” for its craft beer community.

The Grand Strand breweries wanted to give back to a community that has helped them grow. The owner of Tidal Creek Brewhouse said Grand Strand Brewing Company united the six companies and made sure each of them played an important role in helping Asheville residents.

The breweries are working with teams of drivers who are taking the donated supplies to stations in Western North Carolina. All supplies collected at the stations will go to the Hurricane Helene Airlift Relief in Statesville, North Carolina, and then flown directly to those in need.

Tidal Creek owner Dara Sawczuk said her team will continue to send supplies at least into next week. As long as the community keeps donating, the drivers will keep sending supplies to the stations.
