Kansas Task Force 1 ease fear and anxiety for mother, texting: “her son was ok”

PIGSAH NATIONAL FOREST, N.C. (KOAM) — Kansas Task Force 1 (KSTF-1) joined forces with a National Guard unit while performing search and rescue (SAR) efforts in the rugged, hilly country of North Carolina.

One male resident they came upon wanted to let his mother know he was okay, but communication continues to be spotty with little to no radio, data, or phone connections in the field, so he was not able to reach her.

When team members were able get service, they texted his mom letting her know her son was okay, and he was getting needed supplies.
