FOX23 Investigates: Looking into what caused a deadly semi-truck rollover crash in Tulsa

TULSA, Okla. — We can now tell you the person driving the semi-truck in a rollover crash on Thursday who died is Robert Pitts Jr.

It happened in north Tulsa just north of Apache on Highway 169.

The wife of Robert shared the following photo of them together with FOX23.

Tulsa’s Investigative Reporter Janna Clark looked into the reason for the crash.

FOX23 showed you on our Skyview Camera the deadly rollover crash and since then I’ve been working to get more information about how the crash happened and the company that owns the truck.

The semi-truck was hauling a large trash container full of rocks when it crashed. The truck driver didn’t hit any other cars.

“I’m going to give him the grace that this driver tried to control his truck and did not impact other people. That’s entirely possible, he tried to control his vehicle as best he could to avoid that,” Tulsa Police Capt. Richard Meulenberg said.

The crash backed up traffic on Highway 169 for miles on Thursday. We found out later that the driver died.
