Terri Kaiser shows true strength of her volleyball community amid second cancer fight

By 7 p.m. on Thursday night, there was not a single parking space available at Lake Worth Christian.

Well over 200 people crowded into the school’s gymnasium for the evening’s volleyball matchup between Lake Worth Christian and Cardinal Newman.

But the final score-line, a clean sweep by the Crusaders, is not what people will remember from Thursday night.

They’ll remember the stirring speech of community offered by Lake Worth Christian head coach Terri Kaiser, a statement of strength to an audience that flocked in droves to the gym in support of the veteran’s looming battle with breast cancer.

For a coach that has dedicated 47 years to the volleyball community, Thursday was a reminder that the coming battle does not have to be fought alone.

“I feel like what tonight does for me is it validates that I ran a good system,” Lake Worth Christian coach Terri Kaiser said. “Tonight says, ‘We bought into the system back then and we still buy into the system’ and they’re coming out and showing their support with the community. And to me, that’s what volleyball is all about.”
