13-year-old arrested in Schenectady for alleged school threat

SCHENECTADY, N.Y. ( NEWS10 ) — The Schenectady Police Department reported a 13-year-old was arrested on Thursday after an investigation into a threat to a local school. The minor, whose name will not be released due to their age, was charged with making a terroristic threat, a class D felony.

Schenectady Police and the Schenectady Central School District confirmed the teen is a student at Schenectady High School. The 13-year-old is accused of posting threats on TikTok which stated “I’m going to shoot up school” and “I’m going to shoot up that school.”

Detectives were alerted to the threats by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and state police. The posts were then traced back to the teen’s home in Schenectady, resulting in their arrest on October 3.

Albany man arrested on felony weapon charges

No weapons were recovered from the minor’s home following a search. Police say no additional threats have been identified at this time.
