NC Highway Patrol’s aviation unit aids disaster relief in western region

NORTH CAROLINA (WAVY) — The North Carolina Highway Patrol’s Aviation Unit mobilized to support disaster relief efforts in the western part of the state.

Members of the aviation unit conducted numerous welfare checks and medical evacuations to inaccessible areas.

On one mission, the crew evacuated a pregnant woman and successfully transported her to a waiting ambulance.

Additionally, the crew worked to help restore communications throughout the state by relaying equipment and personnel to communication towers throughout the region.
