Collective giving is an approach to strategic philanthropy where people with a common interest pool their charitable giving and together decide the focus of their grants.
The Women’s Giving Alliance is one of the larger collective giving circles in the country. For 23 years it has been by and for women.
This year we have reached new heights in our work, but we’re not stopping there.
In May, the alliance made its largest grant distribution to date — $750,000 to 18 nonprofit organizations in Northeast Florida — who are helping women in poverty through essential services and programs. This record level of grantmaking now brings our total in Northeast Florida to $9.7 million.
We’re proud of these grants and we have 450 members to thank. Most members contribute $1,500 annually to fund our work. Together our relatively modest individual contributions add up to significant collective grantmaking power.
We will count on the strength of our membership this fall as we embark on a new grantmaking focus area: Addressing Violence Against Women and Girls — Preventing, Surviving, Thriving.
