Body of missing woman found in Knox County; Husband arrested

KNOX COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — The search for a missing Gibson County woman has come to a tragic end, and with an arrest.

The Knox County Coroner’s Office has confirmed the body of 36-year-old Kayla Flaherty was found dead around 10:25 p.m. on Friday night just off Wabash River Road in Knox County.

And now, the Gibson County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed 42-year-old Daniel Keith Flaherty, husband of Kayla Flaherty has been booked into the Gibson County Jail at 10:15 p.m. on Friday night. Mr. Flaherty’s arrest was made during an extensive investigation into the disappearance of his wife.

Kayla Flaherty (36) of Patoka had been reported missing on Thursday, October 3rd at approximately 9:06 p.m. by her husband Daniel Flaherty, after she was last known to be on her way to Vincennes.

Gibson County Sheriff’s Office will not make any further statements at this time about Daniel Flaherty. All criminal defendants are to be presumed innocent until, and unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
