Big sales expected at Rockford’s Fall ArtScene

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) – Fall ArtScene is happening in Rockford this weekend with more than 200 artists participate in more than 30 events throughout Rockford.

There’s a lot of art to see, and organizers expect big sales.

“We’ve seen art sales increase over the last few years,” said Bob Blosser, owner of Bennie’s Cleaners, one of ArtScene’s premiere locations.

Blosser says not only is his space a place to mingle and browse, those who walk through the door on Friday and Saturday nights will be there to spend money.

“Annually, we sell about 50 to 60 thousand dollars worth of art between the two shows that we do through ArtScene.”

According to Blosser, ArtScene venues are successful because the quality of work is top-notch.

“Rockford art, in general, has a pretty deep bench,” he said. “There are national artists. There are international artists. And we are fortunate enough to garner them for the weekend and have them participate and show their art locally.”

Artists say while making a living can be a grind, ArtScene continues to be good for business.
