HONOLULU (KHON2) — How much do you know about the dangers of the cyber world? To spread awareness, Governor Josh Green M.D. proclaimed October Cybersecurity Awareness Month.

The proclamation recognizes identifying cyber threats to protect Hawaii residents from attacks and how to respond when the threat occurs.

Reports said the proclamation also promotes cybersecurity initiatives such as educational opportunities with CyberStart America and creating a skilled workforce to help both lower and higher education communities.

“Every year it becomes more important to raise awareness about cyber risks and encourage everyone to engage in safe online practices to protect themselves and their families from malicious cyber actors,” explained Governor Josh Green, M.D.

Hawaii Chief Information Officer Christine Sakuda emphasized that the increased use of technology called for safer online communications.
