Illinois towns looking at higher local gas taxes

Illinois motorists are paying the second highest gas taxes in the nation, and with municipalities adding their own taxes, a stop at a gas station can be a painful venture. For example, the Urbana City Council recently voted to increase the fuel tax by 7.5 cents per gallon beginning in January, then by the third year, the local tax per gallon will increase by 12.5 cents.
