Columbia man in need of medication has been missing for days, Richland County sheriff says

A search is underway for a missing Columbia man who’s in need of medication.

Zelig Williams was reported missing by the Richland County Sheriff’s Department Saturday night. The 28-year-old man has not been seen for days, the sheriff’s department said in a news release.

Williams was last seen Oct. 3 at his home in the 400 block of Longwood Road , according to the release. That’s in Columbia, between Bluff and Garners Ferry roads, not far from Exit 9 on Interstate 77.

A family member contacted the sheriff’s department Friday, saying Williams had not been heard from since Thursday.

It’s not clear if Williams was alone when he was last seen, but the vehicle he was driving was found in the Congaree National Park area , the sheriff’s department said. That’s about 12 miles from Williams’ home.

The sheriff’s department did not say if foul play was suspected in Williams’ disappearance.

Williams has not been in touch with family members and others who are close to him since he was last seen, which is out of character for him, according to the release.
