Killer at Large: $10,000 Reward for Leads in Deerfield Beach Murder

Broward Sheriff’s Office homicide detectives are seeking the public’s help in solving the murder of Bobby Abernathy II, which occurred on April 10. In hopes of bringing justice to Abernathy’s case, Broward Crime Stoppers has announced an increase in the reward to up to $10,000 for information leading to an arrest. Authorities also released the surveillance image of a light-colored SUV that is believed to be connected to the homicide.

According to the press release, at approximately 1:17 a.m. on that Wednesday, Broward County Regional Communications received a report of a shooting victim at 1200 S.W. 11th Way in Deerfield Beach. Upon arrival, BSO deputies and Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue discovered Abernathy in a parking lot, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Paramedics rushed him to Broward Health North hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries later that day.

Initially, BSO’s Violent Crimes and Crime Scene units began the investigation. After Abernathy was pronounced dead, the Homicide Unit assumed responsibility for the case.
