Saturday’s fatal wreck victim identified

LANDIS — The lone occupant of an early Saturday wreck on Interstate 85 perished as a result of the crash.

According to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, Annick Christina Dalton, 31, was driving a Honda SUV in the northbound lane of I-85 near mile marker 65 by the Old Beatty Ford Road exit around 7:25 a.m.

Reports from the highway patrol indicate that Dalton’s SUV ran off the road to the right and struck a guard rail before colliding with an overhead highway sign support. After striking that support the vehicle came to a rest.

Responders were advised shortly thereafter that it was a fatality. Dalton was the only occupant in the vehicle. No other vehicles appear to have been involved.

Mt. Mitchell, Bostian Heights and Kannapolis fire departments reportedly responded to the scene.
