A Durham man was arrested Saturday night in Pitt County and is facing murder and attempted murder charges. Officials with the Pitt County Sheriff’s Office say that deputies responded to a Latham Rd. residence in Bethel around 10:55 p.m. for a reporter shooting. Arriving deputies located Elijah Rashawn Everette, 25, who was pronounced deceased at the scene. They also learned that Thomas Everette Jr. was also shot at, but was not injured.
