Police identify the pedestrian struck in killed in Friday crash

Delaware State Police have identified 72-year-old Prabhjit Klair of Newark as the pedestrian killed in a crash with an SUV on Friday evening near Newark.

The incident occurred around 6:49 p.m. on Oct. 4, 2024, on Corner Ketch Road, just south of Karrington Drive in North Star. Authorities released the details of the crash on Saturday .

According to authorities, Klair was initially standing on the southbound shoulder of Corner Ketch Road. He began crossing eastward, not using a designated crosswalk, when he entered the southbound lane in front of an oncoming Subaru Outback.

Police reported that Klair “fell into the southbound lane” and was hit by the SUV. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The 38-year-old Wilmington man driving the Subaru was not injured during the crash. The Delaware State Police Troop 2 Collision Reconstruction Unit continues investigating the incident.
