Miami Heat Fans Won’t Be Happy With Latest Jimmy Butler Trade Claim

As we approach the 2024-25 season, Jimmy Butler’s future with the Miami Heat seems clouded in uncertainty. There were suggestions that he wanted an extension over the offseason, which the organization were to give him due to his age and injury history.

Butler has missed 100 games over his five seasons as the face of the Heat so far. Now, 35 years of age, it is not expected to get any easier for him to stay fit moving forward.

In the postseason, he is one of the best out there. Unfortunately, ‘Playoff Jimmy’ missed the entire first-round series against the Boston Celtics last season due to injury, as the Heat were eliminated.

So, it is not hard to see why there might be some reluctance on the part of the Heat to hand Butler an extension despite his undeniable quality.

It is believed that Butler is keen to stay in Miami and earn himself an extension from the organization. But the idea of a trade at some point cannot be brushed off either.

According to Adam Wells on Bleacher Report , Tim MacMahon said on the latest episode of The Hoop Collective podcast: “Maybe Jimmy follows through on what he says, like, ‘Hey, contract year, this is a prove-it type of year for me,’ and he’s all business. No one questions his ability to play the game and impact winning when he’s on the floor. But if you talk to people around the league and say, ‘Who’s the next big-name or star-caliber player who gets traded?’ there are at least some eyes on Jimmy Butler.”
