Man stabbed by backpack thief on subway platform: NYPD

CROWN HEIGHTS, N.Y. (PIX11) — Police are searching for a man in connection to a stabbing in a subway station in Brooklyn Friday night.

The incident happened around 9:15 p.m. at the Crown Heights-Utica Avenue station.

Police say the 17-year-old victim was waiting on the southbound platform waiting for the No. 3 subway when an unknown individual approached him.

The suspect forcibly tried to take the victim’s backpack, police say. The victim tried to get his backpack back but was stabbed in the left shoulder.

EMS transported the victim to Brookdale Hospital Medical Center for treatment.

The suspect fled the station on foot. The NYPD released the following surveillance image of the individual.
