A Punta Gorda man has been arrested after allegedly stealing around $30,000 worth of marijuana and other items while wearing stolen clothing and using a stolen prybar, according to a news release by the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office.
On September 27, 2024, at approximately 2:45 a.m., deputies responded to a burglary call at the Curaleaf located on Kings Highway. Upon arrival, they discovered evidence that someone had pried open the back door to enter the business. After securing the building, the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) Criminal Investigations Unit reviewed security footage alongside the owner.
The video revealed a black Ford Fusion pulling into the rear parking lot and parking in one of the spaces. A male suspect, later identified as Tyrese Jackson (born May 17, 2001), exited the vehicle wearing dark clothing, a mask, and gloves, and carrying tools with tags still attached. Jackson then approached the back door of Curaleaf, pried it open, and used a piece of cardboard to keep the door from closing. After returning to his vehicle, he drove away briefly before returning to the business. Once inside, he collected merchandise, primarily packaged marijuana, and made several trips to his vehicle before driving off with an estimated $30,000 worth of items.
