“We need to go forward not backwards,” Sanders said to a crowd who chanted back, “We’re not going back.”

The independent was met with a cheering crowd as he took the stage at the rally at Rosa Parks Circle. It was part of a two-day swing campaign across the state.

Sanders spent a lot of time highlighting the high stakes of the election and making digs at former President Donald Trump. He preached working together to create a better future and said this is a time for America to be united.

In-person absentee voting is now underway in Michigan. Sanders and the UAW president also appeared together at an event in Warren Saturday. They traveled on to East Lansing Sunday night.
