An eleven year old Virginia double homicide has been solved

Daniel Elwood Duncan has been arrested

WDBJ7 reports that a Virginia murder mystery involving two Franklin County residents has been solved after eleven years. On Friday, the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office arrested Daniel Elwood Duncan of North Carolina for the double homicide.

The 43-year-old was charged with two counts of murder and two counts of using or displaying a firearm in the commission of a felony. The sheriff’s office revealed he has been a person of interest since the investigation first began.

Vicky Purdy and Ricky Dodson’s murders have been solved

Duncan is the nephew of 53-year-old Vicky Purdy, who was reported missing on October 3, 2013. Her body was found three days later inside a burned vehicle in the 800 block of Philpott Road, near the Henry County line. She had been shot in the head.

The Smith Mountain Eagle reports that two months later, on December 5, 54-year-old Ricky Dodson’s body was found in a wooded area on Johnson Hill Road.He was about a mile from Purdy’s vehicle and body, had been located.
